Malaysian F&B POS terms, explained.

LHDN MyInvois+

Malaysia's national e-invoicing system run by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN). FOODSERVA submits each paid invoice automatically and tracks its acceptance status.

SST+

Sales and Service Tax. In FOODSERVA it is configurable at item, category, table-type, centre and organisation level, with 0%, 6% and 10% rates.

Official Receipt (OR)+

A sequential, BRN-stamped receipt with an SST breakdown, issued for every transaction and retrievable from the audit log.

DuitNow QR+

Malaysia's national interoperable QR payment standard, accepted via the payment gateway.

KDS+

Kitchen Display System. FOODSERVA routes orders through a print queue to station-specific printers, with an optional screen view.

Weighted-average cost+

The running average cost of an item, recalculated each time a supplier purchase invoice is recorded — the basis for true food-cost reporting.

BRN+

Business Registration Number, printed on every Official Receipt for tax compliance.

Split tender+

Paying one invoice with more than one method — e.g. part card, part DuitNow QR, part member wallet.

FPX+

Financial Process Exchange — Malaysia's online-banking payment rail, accepted through the Fiuu gateway.

What kind of food business is FOODSERVA built for?+

Restaurants, cafes, bars, dessert shops, bakeries, food courts, mamak and hawker stalls — any service that takes orders at a table or counter and runs a kitchen.

How does table-side QR ordering work?+

Each table has its own QR code. Guests scan, browse, customise and submit. The order lands at the right kitchen station. Multiple groups at one table keep their checks separate.

Do I need a kitchen display screen?+

No. Orders route to station printers through a print queue. A KDS screen is optional.

Which payment methods can I accept?+

Cash, cards, DuitNow QR, FPX, GrabPay, TNG, Boost, Apple Pay and Google Pay via Fiuu. Physical card terminals via cloudECR. One invoice can split across several tenders.

Does it handle Malaysian tax and e-invoice?+

Yes. LHDN-compliant Official Receipt for every transaction. Invoices auto-submit to MyInvois. SST configurable at five levels.

Can I track food cost properly?+

Yes. Supplier purchase invoices feed weighted-average cost into each item. Food-cost percentage and margin per item are reported in real time.

Does FOODSERVA integrate with GrabFood or Foodpanda?+

Not at the moment. FOODSERVA is designed around in-house and table-side ordering.

Does it support multiple outlets or a franchise group?+

Yes. Organisations contain outlets with role-based permissions. Members can carry their wallet across outlets.

What hardware do I need?+

Any modern browser device, an 80mm thermal printer, station printers, and a cloudECR terminal or the Fiuu hosted page. No proprietary hardware.

Can guests order without an app?+

Yes. QR ordering opens in the phone browser. The member app is only for loyalty, wallet and history.

How is loyalty handled?+

Member tiers with auto-discount, a top-up wallet, and a stamp card — they stack, with coupons and campaigns on top.

How much does FOODSERVA cost?+

Can I migrate my existing menu and members?+

Is my data secure?+

Can I send promotions to my members?+

Yes. Announcements push to all members through the app with view tracking, and campaigns run automatically on schedule.

Does FOODSERVA work offline?+

FOODSERVA is cloud-hosted and needs an internet connection. A stable connection at the counter is recommended; most outlets run it on Wi-Fi or 4G/5G.

Can two parties at one table pay separately?+

Yes. Add a second group to the same table and each keeps its own order sequence and check, so they order and pay independently without the bills commingling.

Will it run on an iPad or an Android tablet?+

Yes. FOODSERVA is a web app — it runs in the browser on iPad, Android tablets, laptops or a cheap Windows PC. There is no proprietary till hardware to buy.

Can I run several food-court stalls under one account?+

Yes. Each stall is its own outlet with its own menu, receipts and LHDN compliance, all grouped under one organisation with consolidated reporting at the top.

How do I track waste and spoilage?+

Log an inventory adjustment with a reason code — waste, spoilage, donation or recount. The variance shows up against expected stock so you can spot shrinkage.

Can I schedule a happy-hour discount automatically?+

Yes. Time-windowed campaigns switch a discount on and off by date and time of day, with no manual intervention at the counter.

Do members keep their wallet across my outlets?+

Yes. Members belong to your organisation, so their wallet balance, tier and stamps travel with them to any outlet in the group.

Does FOODSERVA have AI features?+

Yes.
